Crochet Patterned Sweater Top

One of the prettiest sweaters I own. It has puff stitches running down the body and sleeves, the waist tightens up slightly and then flares out again. Make it as long or as short as you would like to. I used an acrylic double knit/category 3/ light worsted yarn for this project. The yarn too is so pretty, it has “flecks” of glitter woven into the yarn strands which do not show up on the images. I enjoyed working up this pattern and I enjoy using the sweater even more so 🙂

Pattern Notes

The Crochet Patterned Sweater Top pattern is for sizes XS, S, M, L, XL (sizes in order as stated/ in parentheses) It’s best to highlight the size you are making to avoid confusion
This pattern uses US crochet terminology
Measurements are in inches and centimetres
ch3 counts as a stitch (a dc)
Increase = 2dc into one st
puff-ch3-puff = all into one st
Set of dc’s refers to the dc’s in between the puff st patterns. There are 8 sets of dc’s and 8 sets of puff st pattern’s
The number in front of the st (2dc) denotes an increase (2 dc into one st)
For the yoke Increase Rounds – each set of dc’s has 2 increases – one into the first dc and the other into the last dc
The number after the st (dc2) denotes the number of st’s to be worked (2 dc into two st’s)
dc2 (3, 4, 5, 6) means dc2 for a size XS, dc3 for a size S, dc4 for a size M, dc5 for a size L, dc6 for a size XL

Puff Stitch

yo, insert the hook into the stitch, pick up a loop, elongate the loop to about 1cm … repeat 3 more times, yo, go through all the loops on the hook, ch1 to secure

Back Post Double Crochet (bpdc)

yo, insert the hook around the post of the stitch – working from the back/ behind, pick up a loop, pull through, yo, go through 2 loops on the hook, yo, go through two loops on the hook

Front Post Double Crochet (fpdc)

yo, insert the hook around the post of the stitch – working from the front, pick up a loop, pull through, yo, go through 2 loops on the hook, yo, go through two loops on the hook
