Our Story

Welcome to a world where every stitch and pattern tells a story. We are a passionate team of three, crafting not just products, but memories.

Hi! I’m Jayshree.

I’ve loved sewing ever since I was little. I remember sewing a tee for my dad at the age of 12 and I presented it to him as a “Father’s Day” gift. Mind you, it was sewn with panels facing the wrong way… omg… “I’m blocking my eyes just thinking about it!” It didn’t stop there… this was just the tip of the iceberg, I remember the many ragdolls I stitched… one was never enough! I guess that’s what got me on this journey… I made something and I loved it! I believe that as a child, the things that you are drawn to is an indication of your path… if that make sense! Sewing was one of the first craft’s that I fell in love with.

Along the way I got hooked onto crochet. At first, it was never something that I thought I could do. Watching someone work magic with that hook, intimidated me! Up until I tried it, of course… all I needed to do was pick up a hook and some yarn, and that was it for me… caught! Hook, line and sinker!!!

Crocheting and sewing was and still is my journey of creativity and self discovery. I passed these onto my girls, hence the “JKD” in Handmade by JKD – that’s me, Jayshree and my daughters Deveshni and Karusha who give me inspiration, everyday! I love spending time with them, passing our days sewing and crocheting! With every stitch, we got better, we got closer, memories were made and are still being made!

I hope that I can bring inspiration to everyone out there, my fellow crafters, beginners and experienced alike, through this small corner of the internet where I’m happy to share my patterns with you. In my post’s I hope to share a little about me, hopefully in every post… fingers crossed… so that you may get to know me and I may get to know you through your comments! I’m looking forward to theseđź’– Isn’t it great, how the internet can bring the entire world together sharing the things we are passionate about! I pour love into each creation. Join me on this creative journey.

Much love

Jayshree
